Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

The Garden Chronicles

Gardening

Wow!  My wife tells me that this year's garden is one of the best.

It is absolutely amazing what regular rainfall can do for your results.

I checked the diary and I'm picking and canning pickles almost three weeks ahead of what would be typical.  Just this past weekend I put-up thirty-two pints of pickles and I still have cukes to spare.

Same for the summer squash and green beans.

I even picked the first tomato - a perfect specimen.

Well in-advance of the expected date - the potatoes and onions are ready to harvest too.

Best of all - my farmer neighbor Pierre has sweet corn!
