Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Countdown to Deer Camp

Deer Camp, Hunt'n

It's good to be back.  Up 'nort that is.

Although, to be perfectly truthful I've only been away three days.  Opportunities to fill the hunt calendar have been very, very good to me lately.  Pheasant hunting followed by bow hunting and now the traditional nine-day gun opener which is on Saturday.

Jill asked me the other day if I might not be able to schedule a service call with the HVAC man in the coming week so he could give the furnace a once-over before the winter heating season.  Of course, as soon as the subject was broached we both realized it would be futile to schedule anything of the sort during what amounts to a nine-day religious holiday for many Wisconsin families.

Heck, some people have been known to postpone their own funerals and weddings until the close of deer season.

Girlfriend is here with me and after my hunting compadres depart next week Jill will join me lest we become lonely.

You regular readers probably already know that I am rather picky about ritual and tradition.  Not that I'm superstitious or anything.  I'm just say'n - it is sort of like a nine-day religious holiday.

So we're going to close tonight with the Junkies on the Hi-Fi, our feet in front of the woodburner and mellow out.

Stay tuned...
