Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Deer Camp - Day Two

Hunt'n, Deer Camp, Terrific Cooking

Our deer camp rocks!

Five deer on opening day.  Plus two already in the freezer from last month.

We don't need no stinking deer trustee.

Ordinarily there would be more hunting today.  But the day dawned with drizzle, followed by rain, which was followed by rain, fog and wind.

So we did what any respectable deer camp would do.

We found a nice warm tavern and watched the Packers humiliate the Vikings on their home turf.

Anyone want to wager if Childress is coach tomorrow?

We also butchered three of the deer and got them in the freezer.

We'll finish the remaining two tomorrow morning and tidy-up the machine shed, the garage and the house.

Tonight we dine like kings.

Fresh loin of venison in a peppercorn marinade - grilled medium rare - garden squash, potatoes, Swiss chard  and green beans with corn.

With homemade blueberry cobbler for dessert...
