Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Deer Camp - Day Three

Deer Camp, Go - Pack

We butchered our remaining two deer before 9:30 AM today.

What we've been doing is freezing our FoodSaver packages of meat in shifts and then shuttling it into coolers on the porch to make additional room in the  freezer for new stuff.  Everyone left with their own personal supply of this year's harvest today.

It is a chores day.  The guys scrubbed the machine shed floor and a couple of gory tarps.  Two trips with the loader on the tractor to dispose of five carcasses in the big field to the north.  It will not be long before the bones are picked-clean.  The place is vacuumed and the bathrooms sparkle.  I am doing laundry.

I took Girlfriend out to stretch her legs and work-off some pent-up energy.  A mile run against the four-wheeler.  We also retrieved the cushions from the Gorilla stand.  She's in her crate snoring as I tap this out.

Also ran to town to fetch the mail at the post office and get a paper and drop-off our leftover trimmings at the butcher for grinding into burger.  It was just south of forty-one pounds of the stuff.  I have a dreamy vision of venison tacos and chili.  You cannot beat burger for versatility.

Even though it is difficult to be motivated to do so - I was planning on sitting in a tree stand all by my lonesome for a couple of hours today.

I'll have to wait and see. For awhile it was pouring rain like a monsoon - accompanied by lightening and hail.  At the present it is just a gentle rain.

I heard today that the Minnesota Viking's coach is available if anyone is looking to hire an NFL coach.  Vikings owner Zygi Wilf must be made of money.  Doesn't he have to buy-out Childress' contract?  For something like $6 million bucks?  Add that to the third round draft pick they gave-up to bring Randy "Kryptonite" Moss for just long enough to poison the locker room.  As long as he's got his wallet out I think old Zygi should buy-out the balance of that prima donna QB's contract and send him packing for Hattiesburg.  The cost of professional football in Minnesota strikes me as pricey dontcha think?

How many Minnesota Vikings does it take to win a Super Bowl?

Nobody Knows.
