Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Gas Pains Makes a Wager

Wauwatosa Politics, Mayor Didier, Governor Scott Walker, Union Bargaining in Wauwatosa, Wauwatosa Food Pantry, Union Goon, Union Thug, Wagering, Stanley Zurawski, Sr.,

It certainly has been an interesting week what with the Council and the Governor and the Mayor and the crowds and the Budget Repair Bill.

Personally, I think that the Mayoral veto is going to cost us Tosans some money.  Nevertheless, we'll have to see how it all plays out in the long run.

I also know that I have been playing fast and loose with all sorts of snide commentary and predictions.  I just want you to know that when the Mayor and I meet face-to-face she usually gives me an earful.

I interpret that to mean we are still on cordial terms.

So just to demonstrate what a swell guy I am I would like to propose a wager.

This is a simple wager with a $100 stop-loss.  I don't think any of this will complicate anyone's retirement plan and all proceeds go to the Wauwatosa Food Pantry.  I am doing this to prove my points.

Consider it skin in the game.

However, before I cover the details there is the disclaimer.

Any reader who accepts this wager does so at risk of their own personal peril.

Yes.  There is an individual in the community who is the keeper of the town morals and might just turn our names over to the Wisconsin Attorney General for illicitly gambling.

Don't say I didn't forewarn you.

Here are the terms:

1.  If the firefighters go to either mediation or arbitration and exit the process without having to make a pension and a health insurance contribution (same as what was in the contracts that failed to be ratified) I will be deemed the winner.  The reader will have to make a $25 contribution to the food pantry.

If the ruling requires a contribution to WRS and health insurance must be made (same as what was in the contracts that failed to be ratified) I am the loser and have to pay $25.

2.  Same wager for the police union.  So far that is $50 to the food pantry.

3. If the Mayor is appointed to a position in the Walker administration I will be the winner.  Reader pays.  On the other hand if no appointment materializes I am the loser and have to cough-up $50.

4.  If I lose all of the foregoing wagers - not only does the pantry get my $100 but the reader gets to publish a guest post of their choosing.  Free reign of topic and their anonymity will be guarded like a palace secret.

There is a six month performance deadline applied to each of the first three wagers.  Starts tonight.

First reader to accept gets it.

Any takers?
