Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Chick Magnet

I have dog duty tonight while Jill has some welcome RR with her girlfriends.

I got to stay home with Girlfriend and Sister.

After a visit with the barber to solve the state's problems I quickly swapped into my shorts and t-shirt to take the girls down to the soccer field to throw the tennis ball.

I have previously pointed-out that from time-to-time someone will stop to ask for directions.

Now that the weather has turned normal - human beings of the female persuasion are approaching me for reasons other than asking for directions.

Yes.  Me.  An overweight, middle-aged guy with a gray beard.  And my secret weapon.  Two adorable Labrador retrievers.

A buff black Lab and a cuddly blond Lab puppy.

Single fellas out there.  Listen up!  I think I have struck-upon the winning combination.

Just today on our trip to and from the tennis ball throwing field we encountered three younger and fetching (pun intended) Tosa females who wanted to know all about the big black dog and the little blond dog.

The woman with the tattoos was particularly inquisitive.

Nevertheless, I'm a happily married man and after the dogs and I returned home and everyone was fed we all sat on the porch to take-in the urban experience.

Sirens to the south.  Bus traffic to the east.  Trains to the north.  A young couple walking their kids in a stroller stopped-by to let the dogs sniff the oldest and the infant.  The neighbor kids checked-in while counting garages for their math lessons to give the pooches belly rubs.

I don't know about you but I rather like porch sitting than trolling for chicks.

The truth of the matter is that the young bucks don't have the patience for puppy training.
