Do Deer Pee In the Woods?

Critters, Smile For The Trail Cam, Do Dee Pee In The Woods

This is a question that has dogged scientists for some time.

I know that deer poop in the woods because my dogs find it all the time.  Doggie M&Ms is what I call it. I also know that male deer pee on themselves (their tarsal glands to be exact) to leave their calling card when they're advertising for the ladies.

I've now two trail cameras out year-round and they are routinely capturing all sorts of wildlife images.  Hundreds of images over the space of a couple of weeks at a time. And there isn't anything to attract them.  No scent or bait - just careful scouting and camera placement.

Just like this doe.
