Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.
Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.
I don't know how young parents do it.
As I tap out this post I'm seriously thinking about taking a nap this afternoon. I am flat-out, tuckered-out. And it is finally quiet enough around here to actually sleep.
Have you any idea what life is like when you pack four adults and two children in a tiny Tosa bungalow? With a couple of fully grown Labrador retrievers for good measure? And one bathroom for extra measure?
Does bedlam come to mind?
Ten-year-old granddaughter is a piece of cake. Content to curl-up with a book she's pretty maintenance-free. The eighteen-month old is an altogether different matter. Waking at 5:30 AM he'll gleefully pace about in his Pack 'n Play - screeching - yami, yami, yami, yami, yami.
This is how the day starts with Mr. Yami.
For my age I'd like to think that my energy level is good. Maybe even better than good. I can ride my bike 25, 50 or 75 miles. I can chase a dog hunting pheasants almost all day. But keeping-up with a toddler is a challenge and a half. Which is why I marvel at how young parents cope. Sure, I know I did it myself. But that was an earlier life. More than three decades ago. And I didn't have to match the exuberant alacrity of Mr. Yami.
Look out! Here comes Mr. Yami! He's got the toilet paper holder with all four rolls!
Out of the way! Mr. Yami's got a yardstick!
Clear the deck! Mr. Yami has the broom!
Mr. Yami is dusting the dog with the feather duster!
Get it from him quick! Mr. Yami grabbed the toilet plunger!
Where'd the laundry basket go?
Mr. Yami took it to the sunroom.
They're gone now and Girlfriend is probably wondering where her next snack is coming from. And Sister isn't going to have any tiny boy hands to lick clean. At least for awhile.
As for us - we have the butt paste. And I am looking forward to my nap...
