Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Friday Morning Fish

Canada, Fishing, Friends, Life is Good

No trip to Canada would be complete unless it involved fishing.

With our bear tags filled it was time to wet a line.

One of the first things we noticed was the absence of any development on our lake.  Your typical northern Wisconsin lake would be lined with cottages, houses, boat houses, resorts or condos.  Not here.  Just forest and an occasional cabin.

We brought some minimal tackle - rods, Rapalas, spoons and jigs, a net and a fish basket.  We had the use of a resort boat with a 15 HP Yamaha motor.  Pull start.  I got to drive the boat since Lawyer only knows how to drive big boats with power trim, electric start, bilge pumps,  a couple of live wells, marine radio, electric anchors, GPS, and graph.

The fishing was really good.  Of course it's difficult to ever refer to a bad day of fishing.

Considering we were fishing old-school style on an unfamiliar lake the walleyes and northerns were almost jumping into the boat.

Life is good.
