Gas Pains

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Packer Juju

Friends, Packer Football, Superstition

Jill and I connected with Sid and Lawyer tonight at the sacred House of Lambeau for the 2012 NFC playoff game between the Vikings and the Mighty Packers.

As we were crating-up the pooches and preparing to leave the house I was thinking - what to wear, what to wear.

Settling on long underwear, warm socks (a perfect Christmas present from grandma), dirty dungarees, two layers of polar fleece, hunting boots and a XL-sized camouflage GI field jacket.  Roomy enough to accommodate multiple layers it had all of those handy cargo pockets.  Perfect for a couple of granola bars, some hand warmers, camera, smart phone, fleece gloves, and my lucky Citgo fleece Packer hat.  I don't want you to get the impression that I'm superstitious or anything but just like hunting and fishing - with the Packers you cannot be too careful about your juju.

As I was loading-up my stuff I felt something in the upper left breast pocket.  It was a game ticket from the Packer/Viking game at Lambeau on November 14, 2011.  Green Bay stomped the Vikings that day - Packers 45, Vikings 7.

Check this out - look what I found.  How weird.  What are the odds?  Should I leave this at home or keep it in my pocket with tonight's ticket?

Giving me a hard stare Jill said - No way.  That ticket stays with you.  This is a sign.

Packers 24, Vikings 10.

The juju continues...
