I Love Tosa: Summer Edition

Random

I've gone on about how proud I am to be a Tosan before. But the wealth of summer activites we have going on in this town inspired me again, so to speak.

I've often told friends not from the area that Milwaukee is an outstanding place to live - especially in the summertime, when we start crawling out from hibernation and really, well, live it up! Live music abounds, our many restaurants with patios and beergardens get very busy and fun, and various festivals - neighborhood, ethnic, church - they are everywhere and always offering something unique. Milwaukee knows how to have a good time.

But, Tosa... oh, Tosa. We can really hold our own. I'm so pleased with how much use the band shell at Hart Park has been getting. Hart and Hoyt Park are just so busy and beautiful. Not long ago my husband and I had a night free and were looking for something to do. Greekfest? Hartfest? The Landing (beer garden) at Hoyt? The beer garden won out, but only because I hadn't been yet, and the other options were very crowded (good for them!). However, we did get to hear a German band at the Landing using an alphorn on stage... now that's a new one for me!

The patios we have in this town are incomparable... it seems as though everywhere you go, you can hang out outside - and often live music will accompany your food. Some of our favorite patios are Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub, Juniper 61 and Bel Air Cantina. But there are so many others to choose from!

And speaking of Bel Air, at this current point in time the World Cup is happening and there are a number of local spots that are dedicated to showing the games on TVs. Bel Air Cantina and Cafe Hollander are two definites, and there are probably others. What's not to love about soccer-supporting restaurants that serve delicious food and drinks?

What can I say, you don't have to go far at all to have a great time... I am just in love with this city!
