Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

Public Policy

My friend, and fellow Community Voice, Christine McLaughlin has raised the issue of the mayor seeking corporate sponsorship (in exchange for naming rights) so as to assist the city in underwriting the costs of the Hart Park athletic fields project.

I have no problem with the sale of naming rights.  Presuming it is done correctly and the Mayor extracts a sufficient amount of tribute from an appropriate corporate entity.

I've been thinking about the alternative solution for a number of weeks.

I've been waiting for someone to bring this-up but nobody has had the nerve to do so yet.

So I'll say it.

How about federal largess?

You know -

I'm serious.

They're going to spend our damn money anyway so how about some of it coming back here to good old Tosa Town to underwrite some honest-to-goodness, shovel-ready, job-creating, made-in-America, infrastructure?

Plus it's good for the kids.

What's not to like?

Getting the rest of the country to underwrite our new athletic facilities sounds rather appealing.  Doesn't it?

I wonder if anyone over at the Palace has been burning the midnight oil on this?
