Gas Pains

Tom grew up in Milwaukee, bartended in Wauwatosa in the '70s and moved here in 1984.

Commentary, observations and musings about the outdoors, life in general and maybe Tosa politics and personalities will be the order of the day. He savors a lively debate as much as terrific cooking.

The Road is Paved with Resignations - Update

Mayor Didier, Politics-Tosa

Hi everyone.

I hope you all enjoyed a blessed and relaxing Easter holiday.  I sure did.

With the exception of  an occasional illicit glance at my Blackberry I have been in a blissful state of disconnect.

While the Mayor's road to consolidating her grip on power at the palace has been advantageously littered with aldermanic roadkill my own road has been smooth and warmly refreshed by salty ocean breezes.  I have been on the road (literally) and I gotta tell you that there is nothing like a good old-fashioned road trip to reconnect with family, see new places, catch fish, eat great food, enjoy a refreshing adult beverage and make new friends.

Not to mention - discover new material to endlessly prattle-about with my fourteen readers.

I digress.

I was encouraged to learn that in my absence there has been an outbreak of civic duty here in Wauwatosa.  Furthermore it appears to be localized in the Seventh District.

A whopping six additional candidates have submitted their applications to fill former Alderman Purins' vacant Council seat.

There are now a total of eight applicants!

How spectacular is that?

The selection committee is composed of Alders Krol (Chair), Nikcevich, Walsh, Ewerdt and Birschel.

Since the Mayor and her supporters have successfully quashed any attempt to broadcast the committee's interviews on public access you may wish to attend in person.  Meeting Agenda.pdf

They will be conducting interviews of the candidates the evening of Wednesday, April 22nd.  At the meeting's conclusion the committee will make a recommendation for appointment by the Council.

Girlfriend and I will render our own prediction immediately beforehand.

Anyway, here is the total field of applicants (including the first two I spoke-of a couple of weeks ago).  Included is the voting record (if available) for each candidate.
