On The Road Again - Billy

Life Is Good, Hunt'n, Friends

That fella in the picture above is Billy - white hat - center.

Billy had been a regular fixture with our group.  A local who could guide our hunts in unfamiliar acreage.

Billy's dead.

He died suddenly late last year of a heart ailment at the age of forty-seven.

He was hunting birds one day and was gone the next.

That strikes me as too young but nonetheless somehow well-timed.

Inasmuch as about half of us fall on either side of the age of forty-seven spectrum - the guys have been talking about this for the last couple of days.

The consensus is that 'tis better to die doing something you love than to live doing nothing at all.
