WHS Adoptable Animals

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness. For more than 128 years, WHS has been saving the lives of animals in need. We offer adoption services that place 9,000 animals in new homes annually, veterinary services that save thousands of lives, educational programs that instill respect for animals, behavior services to assist guardians and a myriad of other initiatives that help end suffering for animals. We depend entirely on private donations to fund our programs and rely on volunteers in nearly every department. If you are interested in adopting, volunteering, enrolling in a class, taking a tour or making a donation, check out our comprehensive web site at wihumane.org. The adoptable animals' web pages are updated every 30 minutes!

Minnie's on the Mend

A little girl named Minnie has a second chance, thanks to the efforts of the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control (MADACC) and the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS).  The petite 4-year-old Rat Terrier was picked up by MADACC with a leg injury. They stabilized Minnie and took x-rays, which revealed a broken leg.   During her stray holding period, during which no one claimed her, MADACC continued to monitor Minnie and treat her for pain. But Minnie couldn’t stay at MADACC, so WHS was contacted.

Minnie is now recovering in the veterinary clinic at WHS, where she continues to heal.  Dr. Randal Zeman of WHS noted that the break was very clean and should heal without additional surgeries. Minnie will continue to recover at WHS and potentially a foster home, as well. She will be available for adoption in about six weeks.

Interested in sponsoring a shelter animal like Minnie?  WHS relies entirely on donations to provide care for all the injured, abused and homeless animals who come through their doors. Become a sponsor to any animal pictured on the WHS site – including wild animals. If you donate $50 and become an Angel Sponsor, you can even post a message on the WHS website. It makes a great holiday gift, too. Check out all the Angel Sponsors here:  http://www.wihumane.org/donate/sponsor.aspx
