BC Central leads the way for 4 local girls teams

Published on: 1/11/2011

My last blog touched on the four boy teams going into the New Year, here's a couple thoughts on the girls side in Brookfield and Wauwatosa.

Brookfield Central is the dominate team among the four. The Lady Lancers are 4-0 in Greater Metro Conference and 6-3 overall, with losses coming to Mukwonago (2-8) in the opener, Oak Creek (7-3) and Dominican (9-0).

Key wins so far have come over Waukesha South (7-3), DSHA (4-5) and Milwaukee Vincent (6-1) and Sussex Hamilton (5-3).

Perhaps the biggest challenge to the conference crown will be Friday night's foe - West Allis Central (5-0, 8-1). Junior Mehryn Kraker (16.2) and senior Janie Myles (12.3) are two of the top players in the league and the Lady Lancers will have their hands full.

Junior Anna Liewin (13.6) and senior Valerierose Agnello (8.3) are Central's top scorers, but the Lancers make their mark with their difference and rebounding.

Friday's game should be fun to watch and the winner will have a step up on the GMC title.

On the other end is Brookfield East (1-3, 2-8), Wauwatosa West (1-6, 2-7) and Wauwatosa East (0-4, 2-6). All three teams will struggle this year, but hope to show improvement before the post-season begins.
