How good is Ike's girls basketball team?

The New Berlin Eisenhower girls basketball team will get a big test on Tuesday night when they host first-place Cudahy (5-0 overall) of the Blue Division of the Woodland Conference.

The Packers are led by senior wing Taylor Gradinjan (21.8 ppg), so you will have a chance to see two pretty good players with Ike's Nicole Bauman (17.3) on the floor.

Eisenhower is averaging 65 points a game, as they have scored 51, 66, 75, 69, 52 and 77 points (390 points) in their six games.

Defensively they have allowed an average of 26.8 points per game, having allowed 41, 19, 15, 20, 38 and 28 points.

Eisenhower is good, for sure, but outside of a 51-41 win over Oostburg (3-4) in their opener, they really haven't been tested.

Greenfield (1-5), Shorewood (0-7), St. Francis (1-5) are a combined are 2-17 and Brown Deer is 2-3.

Only cross-town rival New Berlin West (4-3) has a winning record among the group, but the game was a 52-38 win for the Lions.

Bauman is a great player, but the Lions are more than Bauman. Katie Lang, Jenny Weiland, Erin Ganzke, Jenna York, Jessican Hahn are all good players as the coach Gary Schmidt has balance and depth.

The Lions would like to get back to state this year. They have to win conference first and they have won 27 Woodland games in a row going into Tuesday.

Their next big league challenge will be South Milwaukee (4-0) and Whitnall (6-2) in January.

It will be interesting to see how this team develops.
