The redevelopment of Wauwatosa's former Drew's Variety Store building, 7503-7509 Harwood Ave., is nearly complete.

Renovations at the 8,400-square-foot building, which has been largely vacant for three years since Drew's closed, will be completed by early June, according to its owner, Sustainable Properties Inc. The work includes new energy-efficient windows, and a boardwalk with outdoor seating.

Portions of the building have been leased to future tenants Yo Mama Frozen Yogurt and B Green, which will sell eco-friendly household goods and toys. Another 2,000 square feet is still available, according to the property owner.

The building owners received $140,000 in public grants from the City of Wauwatosa to help finance the $1.3 million project. The owners include Curt Wiebelhaus, who operates Building Energy Solutions, and Karen Wilman, who operates Go Green Architecture and Supply.
