Tosans earn numerous ribbons at State Fair

Talented Tosa residents received honors for their artistic projects at this year's Wisconsin State Fair.

Kimi Krueger took home blue ribbons for making a poncho and sewing any household item. In the sewing category, Krueger took third place as a first-time entrant. She was also awarded second places for her infant afghan, felted item and lap robe; third place for a knit hat; and honorable mentions for a knit scarf and fabric pillow.

Karen Lemmer earned second place for a children's garment and honorable mention for a knit baby sweater and cap.

Ann Fritsch received a third-place ribbon for her table linens and honorable mention for a general craft, while Patricia Krause walked away with third place for her fabric pillow and honorable mention in general sewing.

Rebekah Radewahn received numerous ribbons: blue for a one-piece dress, knit scarf; third for a shawl and stuffed animal; honorable mentions for doll clothes and any garment outside other judging categories.

Phyllis Resop was the blue-ribbon winner in the knit infant afghan and knit mittens categories.

Mary Reykdal was the leader in the decorated picture frame contest. She also took home a second-place ribbon in pencil drawing and third place for doll clothes.

Ruthann Shields received the top prize for her crocheted infant afghan. She received third place ribbons for crocheted mittens, an afghan and innovative use of crocheting.

Amanda Krause was runner-up with a red ribbon for her painted glass and the painting on fabric. She came in third for her piece made from recycle objects.

Bonnie Lindemann received an honorable mention for her painting.

Kelly Levenhagen's photographs of flowers took first, while photos of a farmers market and fair-related subjects received third place and honorable mention, respectively, She also won third for watercolor painting and honorable mention for pencil drawing.

Several other Tosans were recognized for their keen eyes. Troy Giljohann's winning photos captured images of birds (third) and insects and fruits/vegetables (honorable mentions). Ruth Shaw received a blue ribbon for her lumber photo, thirds for beer and German heritage images and honorable mention for flag and forest shots. Rachel Radewahn earned a third for a sports photo and an honorable mention for a person's headshot. Marilyn Ibach won third-place of her photo depicting autumn.
