Two men used glib tongues and quick wit instead of quick fingers and stealth to get $150 from a cashier at Sentry, 6700 W. State St.
According to the Wauwatosa police report:
The men were purchasing a greeting card and asked for $50 in change at 6:57 p.m. March 16. They gave the cashier $48, and when he found this out, he gave the money back to them to recount. The thieves recounted the money fast, gave up, and asked for $100 in $20 bills instead. The bewildered cashier then gives them the money and lets them walk out with the initial $48, the $50 asked for and the final $100.
The cashier said the entire situation was confusing and the suspect was talking so fast it was hard for him to keep up.
