Wauwatosa police say woman threatened child who answered door

April 9, 2013

A 30-year-old Wauwatosa woman, upon being arrested for drunken driving, blamed her 10-year-old daughter for everything and threatened to attack her in front of officers, according to a Wauwatosa police report.

Also from the report:

Shoppers at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., called police after the woman hit a car in the parking lot and drove off. Officers were able to follow her to her home and knocked on the door at 1:24 p.m. April 1.

The 10-year-old answered and let the officers in. Her mom was asleep, and they had difficulty rousing her.

After finally waking up, the woman giggled and told the officers that she wasn't taking any medication but had been drinking. She would giggle and nod off while officers asked her how much she had to drink and whether she had been driving. She mocked the officers by repeating their questions.

She became angry after officers handcuffed her and told her she was under arrest. She began screaming at her 10-year-old and said she would beat the child. She repeatedly threatened the child at the station, saying she wanted to hurt the child.

Blood-alcohol test results are pending.
