Three Tosa East students to join Bands of America Honor Band

March 4, 2016

Three students from Wauwatosa East High School have been invited to participate in the Bands of America Honor Band next year.

Juniors Sam Hantzsch, a quint percussionist, Molly Lampone, a mellophone player, and trombonist Mairyn Schoshinski will march in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., Jan. 2.

The world-famous, televised 5.5-mile parade, in its 128th year, takes place along Pasadena's Colorado Boulevard and features bands from around the world, according to a news release from the Wauwatosa School District.

Under the direction of East High School band teachers Kristin Cudzewicz and Jennifer Lato, the students underwent a rigorous audition process to be chosen. About 300 musicians were selected to participate in the band.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to take part in such a large national search, and to have three students from the same school selected is quite an honor for the Wauwatosa East Band," Lato said.

Lato is an alumna of the 2005 Bands of America Honor Band and a graduate of Wauwatosa West High School.
