Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley endorses Chris Abele for upcoming election

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced Tuesday he received endorsements from more than a dozen local executive leaders representing municipalities across Milwaukee County — including Mayor Kathy Ehley of Wauwatosa.

Abele looks to keep his seat as he runs against state Sen. Chris Larson during the April 5 spring election.

"From the day I took office, my commitment has always been to work with anyone who wants to improve Milwaukee County," Abele said in a statement. "It has always seemed pretty straightforward to me that at the local level you can accomplish much more by putting aside political differences and working together than focusing on politics. I am honored to have this support and look forward to continuing to collaborate with everyone committed to Milwaukee County in the future."

Mayor Kathy Ehley, who is also up for re-election April 5, although uncontested, said Abele has worked to find more areas of collaboration between elected leaders, according to a news release.

"Specifically for Wauwatosa and Milwaukee County, we have successfully worked together on economic development projects, created a greatly improved Menomonee River Parkway, and implemented collaborations on improved county-wide public safety communications system and uniform voting machines," she said in a statement.

Other endorsing mayors and village presidents included those from South Milwaukee, Village of River Hills, Bayside, West Milwaukee, Cudahy, Village of Shorewood, Village of Brown Deer, Franklin, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Whitefish Bay, Oak Creek and St. Francis.
