Wauwatosa city, schools to partner in study about parks, trails

April 4, 2016

The city of Wauwatosa and the Wauwatosa School District will conduct a joint study to develop a master plan that addresses the future of parks, trails, open spaces and recreation facilities within the community.

The study, known as Active Tosa, will assess the current inventory and existing conditions of community amenities and compare them against community needs and national benchmarks.

The information, along with public input, will identify opportunities to improve recreational offerings in Wauwatosa like enhanced parks and expanded or refined programming, according to a news release.

"I think Wauwatosa has some of the best parks, trails and places to play," Mayor Kathy Ehley said in a statement. "I'm excited about finding ways to improve our already impressive recreational spaces."

A community open house will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 20 at City Hall, 7725 W. North Ave. The event will feature interactive workstations for the public to provide feedback on current conditions and future needs.

Information on the process will also be available through a project website, activetosa.wordpress.com.
