Port Washington won the Chris Wilson Invitational at Milwaukee Lutheran on April 2 with 85 points, followed by Martin Luther (80), Arrowhead (77), Oconomowoc (75), Milwaukee Lutheran (58), Waukesha North (48) and Wauwatosa West (40).

"This was a great meet to end spring break week and give our coaching staff a chance to look at the team one more time before the indoor conference meets," West coach Jack LoPresti said. "This time of year we hope for good weather, but we happen to be lucky enough to still be indoors for another week as the weather is hardly going to be kind the next five days.

"The sprints crew is again coming together well. Cheri'A Adams and Mercy Ndon both looked great in the meet Saturday. Freshman sprinter Brishaun Baily (55-meter dash) got some valuable freshman-year racing experience in the 55 dash."

LoPresti was also happy with the hurdle crew, the 4x100 relay and the mid-distances.

"The hurdle crew of Kayla Crump (third, 9.70) and Brianna Horton raced well for early April and continue to find ways to improve in the hurdles," he said. "The 4x100 relay ran well — Horton, Crump, Ndon and Adams — they ran a solid 4x100 (1:30.49) on the Milwaukee Lutheran track

"In the mid-distances, Ashley Salomone continues to progress in the 400 meter (third, 1:09.86), and Eliza Socka had a solid day running the 400/800 combo."

Adams was second (7.41) and Ndon was third in the 55-meter run, and Toriah Haanstad was fifth in the 3,200 (15:17.50).

LoPresti also praised the Red Knights' events staff.

The Woodland Indoor Conference meet is set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, is at UW-Parkside.
