Tosa West student named Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholar

April 5, 2016

Wauwatosa West student Keegan Schrems has been named a recipient of a 2016 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholars Award.

The recipients, chosen by their schools, have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships, according to a news release.

The previously announced scholarship of $3,000 was increased to $5,000, which the recipients were informed of during an April 3 luncheon in Chippewa Falls.

"There could not be a more deserving student to receive the scholarship," said West teacher Kelly Hetzel. "Keegan is extremely hardworking and appreciates every opportunity given to him. He treats everyone with a genuine and candid respect as he is a good kid who is going to do big things in the future. We cannot wait to see what lies ahead for him."
