Cheri'A Adams wins two events, finishes second twice

It takes a lot to impress Wauwatosa West girls track and field coach Jack LoPresti, whose Trojans ran away with the Woodland Conference Indoor Championship on April 8 at UW-Parkside.

West beat second-place Pewaukee by 37 points, 125-88, and had five winning performance.

Afterward, he described the win this way.

"Great job by the girls last night," LoPresti said. "We had a very solid meet."

A for Adams

Cheri'A Adams had a huge day.

She took first in the 200-meter dash in 27.53 seconds and in the triple jump (36 feet, 3 inches) and finished second in the 55 dash (7.71) and in the long jump (16-6).

Azya McLin won the 55 dash (7.62) and tied for second in the 200 (28.07), while Anna Rogahn won the 1,600 (5:40.11), leading wire-to-wire.

The 4x200 relay also won (1:48.70) behind Kayla Crump, McLin, Mercy Ndon and Breanna Weigman.

Ndon tied for second in the 200 (28.07) and finished third in the 55 dash (7.72), and Breanna Weigman finished second in the high jump (4-10).

The 4x400 relay finished second (4:28.04) behind Kayla Crump, Brianna Horton, Julia Larson and Rogahn,

Crump also finished fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.92), while Julia Larson took fourth in the 400 dash (1:08.06).

Horton took fifth in the 55 hurdles (10.46), Chloe Beaudoin finished fifth in the 800 (2:42.04) and Kim Mai took fifth in the pole vault (7-0).

Rounding out the scoring was the 4x800 relay, which finished eighth (12:12.27) beihnd Beaudoin, Toriah Haanstad, Delaney Reed and Sophia Ruggeri.
