Wauwatosa West boys track team finishes third at Woodland Indoor

The Wauwatosa West boys track and field team finished third in the Woodland Indoor Championship on April 8 at UW-Parkside, winning three events in the process.

New Berlin Eisenhower (131.5 points) and Pewaukee (92.5) were the only teams before Tosa West (71), who was well before fourth-place South Milwaukee (52.5).

Two of the wins came in the field events.

Javaree Jackson won the shot put with a personal-best toss of 53-feet, 81/2 inches.

Jovani Jefferson won the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, 6 inches.

Rounding out the winners was Christian Jackson, who took first in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.25 seconds.

"That was a wonderful surprise," Jordan said of Jackson's performance.

The only second-place finish came from the 4x200-meter relay of Malik Bascom, Paris Howell, Michael Green and Christian Jackson as they ran in 1 minute, 36.37 seconds.

Ean Haller took third in the 55 hurdles (8.94), and Howell finished third in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).

The 4x800 relay of Jeremiah Cash, Josh Cash, Ngaru Nen and Logan Steinike also finished third in 8:53.51.

Two fifth-place finishes went to freshman Kyleon Parker in the 55 hurdles (9.39) and the 4x400 relay (3:44.50) behind Christian Jackson, Joshua Cash, Neu and Haller.

Nick Hagopian placed sixth in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches), and Bascom finished seventh in the 200 (24.68).

Two eighth-place finishes went to freshman Austin Ertl, who placed in the shot with a throw of 41-51/2, and Michael Green in the 55 dash (7.33).

"I was very happy with how we did," Jordan said. "I'm looking forward to the outdoor."
