Dennis McBride will not run again for Wauwatosa council presidency

McBride will retain fourth district aldermanic seat

April 18, 2016

Wauwatosa Common Council President Dennis McBride said he will not run for re-election this spring.

"It has been an honor to serve as president, but it's time for someone else to enjoy that privilege," McBride wrote in an email to colleagues last week.

McBride — also an alderman for the city's fourth district — has served as council president for two terms. Part of the position's duties entail running committee of the whole meetings and common council meetings when the mayor is not present.

McBride said other aldermanic duties and civic endeavors requiring more of his time weighed into the decision to step down.

The city's common council is scheduled to nominate a new candidate for the position during a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 19 at city hall, 7725 W. North Ave.
