The Wauwatosa East/West co-op golf team finished 12th at the Washington County Invitational on April 16 at the Washington County Golf Course.
Tosa shot a 327 and finished 12th out of 28 teams. Marquette won the event with a 291.
Adam Garski shot a 74 and finished seventh place overall. Will Jushka (83), Noah Katula (84), Noah Monty (86) and Owen Knezel (92) followed.
"For our first competition of the season, we did pretty well," coach John Ravenola said. "A top-12 finish in a strong field I feel is an encouraging way to start the season, especially when you consider that several of the teams that finished ahead of us, qualified for state last year.
"While we held our own, we didn't play our overall best golf yesterday. We missed some opportunities and gave away some shots in places that down the road. I believe our guys will get better at in those situations. There really isn't any substitute for experience, and the more these young players get, the more confident I am the results will show."
Besides MUHS, Brookfield Central and Hamilton of the Greater Metro Conference also took part and finished behind Tosa.
"That's another indication in my mind that we have the potential to put together a very successful season," said Ravenola, as both the Lancers and Chargers finished ahead of them last season.
Ravenola also had a message for the parents and fans.
"It's always nice to see parents out there following their son during the round," he said. "It's a free walk around some of the nicest golf courses in the area watching some of the best high school golf you can imagine."
