Wauwatosa West boys track and field team finishes fifth at Dan Benson Invite

The Wauwatosa West boys finished fifth at the Dan Benson Invitational on April 29 at West.

The Trojans (152 points) finished behind Sun Prairie (322), Homestead (308), Milwaukee Lutheran (198) and Wauwatosa East (158).

The Trojans' two first-place finishes came in the field events.

"We had some exciting things happen," coach Scott Jordan said. "Overall a good meet; many athletes competed against good competition."

Jovani Jefferson won the pole vault with a leap of 13 feet.

Javaree Jackson won the shot put in 52 feet, 41/2 inches. He was also seventh in the discus throw (personal best,123-11).

Paris Hannah-Howell finished second in the high jump (6-0) and sixth in the long jump (19-2), and Michael Green was third in the triple jump (40-41/4).

The 4x200 relay placed fourth in 1:35.43 (Malik Bascom, Henry Tyson, Aaron Johnson-Moorer, Michael Green).

Kyleon Parker did well in the hurdles, taking fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.36) and sixth in the 110 hurdles (17.30).

Michael Detlaff was fifth in the 3,200 (10:44.69), and Nick Hagopian in the pole vault (11-0) and Haisam Rihawi in the discus throw (PR, 125-2) both finished sixth.

The 4x100 relay placed sixth in 47.33 seconds (Amadou Berry, Jake Schnell, Henry Tyson, Johnson-Moorer), as did the 4x800 relay in 9:34.67 (Max Herteen, Saul Soriano, Joseph Wehrley, Cole Ackley).

Finishing seventh were Malik Bascom in the 100 (11.62), Logan Steinike in the 1,600 (4:55.59) and Justin Burks in the triple jump (36-91/2)

Jeremiah Cash was eighth in the 1,600 (4:55.59).
