The Tosa Swordfish competed at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, May 13-15, where they set 10 new Long Course Meters records.
The meet was hosted by Mundelein Mustang Swim Club as 22 teams and approximately 600 swimmers from Wisconsin and Illinois participated in the 50-meter pool.
Lauren Malinowski (12 years old) got a new state cut in the 200 butterfly and set a club record, winning the event with a time of 3 minutes, 0:21 seconds. She set a total of five records.
Her other records were in the 50 fly (33.62 first) and 100 fly (1:16.48, second) and in the 50 freestyle (30.84, fifth) and 100 free (1:08.69, sixth).
Maddie A. Bartz (12) set records in the 50 backstroke (36.09, sixth) and the 100 (1:17.29, second).
Caleb Vollmers (16) set the 400 free record (4:53.05, ninth), Lauren Cortright (13) set the 200 IM record (2:52.51, 16th) and Morgan Festerling (8) set the 100 breaststroke record (2:05.62).
Coach Corey Mukai wanted to congratulate the following swimmers on their improvements this weekend.
London Chase (9) had a busy weekend, swimming 10 races. She dropped huge chunks of time in all her events but especially in the 200 IM where she dropped 37 seconds to improve to 3:55.60 (sixth). She also dropped 30 seconds in her 200 free to improve to 3:26.29 (14th).
Zoe Kunz (10) dropped 24.55 seconds in her 100 breast (1:56.32, 11th), and Grace Ryun (12) dropped almost 14 seconds from her 100 backstroke (1:43.28).
