Wauwatosa East senior wide receiver/defensive back Ryan Kelnhofer didn't have the opportunity to play on a winning football team in his three seasons. But that doesn't mean he wasn't successful.

Kelnhofer has been rewarded for his efforts by being named to play in the 2016 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game on July 16 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, one of a handful of Red Raiders to have such an honor.

Kelnhofer will be coached by a couple former Raider head coaches on the All-Star Large South: Tom Swittel, who retired from Brookfield East this winter, and Jake Wolters, Whitefish Bay head coach.

Kelnhofer led the Red Raiders in receptions and yards for the 2015 football season. He will be playing football at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, next season.

Throughout his three years on varsity, Kelnhofer showed great strength and dedication to play and did all he could for the Tosa East Football team. The other conference coaches were well aware of his untapped talent as they awarded him three all-conference awards.

He was a first-team all-conference choice as the top vote-getter at wide receiver, a second-team all-conference defensive backs and honorable mention all-purpose. He was also the team MVP.

The players have to pay to participate in the game; he has raised $1,200 for Children's Hospital. Anyone who would like to donate to help Kelnhofer attend the event can contact the Tosa East Athletic Office at (414) 773-2032, or check out his link: www.chwevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=1160&pg=entry#.
