Wauwatosa East softball teams beats West Allis Central in twinbill

Wauwatosa East started the week with a doubleheader win over West Allis Central at home, including the first no-hitter of her prep career by Analiese Glawe.

East won the opener, 15-5, in the first game, and then Glawe threw her no-hitter in the 17-0 nightcap. It was the third no-hitter in school history. In addition to Glawe's personal achievement, the team had many other stars over the two games.

Morgan Schmanske went 6-for-8, with two doubles and eight RBIs over the two games. In addition, Cora Bilitz went 4-for-6 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Natalie Yahn was 5-for-8 while scoring six runs.

In the first game with the Raiders leading, 4-3, they scored four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 13-3 lead. Both teams scored twice in the fifth inning to end the scoring and the game.

"Analiese threw a no-hitter despite the 'floating' strike zone," coach Ed Raue said. "Look at the walks, and you would think she had no control, but that was not the case. She threw strikes and overpowered them. Analiese was saved in the first inning by a great running catch by right fielder Angie Mitten in center field."

Brookfield Central

The Lancers scored three runs in the fourth inning to win the first game of the doubleheader, 3-1, at Central on May 11 as Crystal Sicard was the story with 16 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game and one unearned run.

East lost the second game, 11-0, as the Raiders mustered only three hits off Brook Central's pitcher, Crystal Sicard, who had double duty. The Lancers scored seven runs in the second and four runs in the third for the win.

"Analiese Glawe started but was blooped and dinked to death," Raue said. "They found green where we found gloves."

The losses dropped the Raiders' record to 7-13, and they are sixth in the Greater Metro Conference with a 3-9 record going into the week.

"Both games were a good measuring stick for us," Raue said. "This is the conference leader, and we went toe-to-toe with them for seven innings and learned some good lessons in the second game."
