Wauwatosa West boys finish fourth at Woodland Relays

The Wauwatosa West boys finished fourth in the 12-team Woodland Conference Outdoor Championship on May 17 at New Berlin West.

West scored 89 points, more than doubling the score of fifth-place Shorewood (43). New Berlin Eisenhower (174), Pewaukee (126) and South Milwaukee (91) finished 1-2-3.

The Trojans had two winners: senior Christian Jackson and junior Javaree Jackson.

Christian Jackson won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.99 seconds, returning from injury; coach Scott Jordan was happy to see him.

"He was back on the track after a leg injury and placed first in the 110 hurdles and second in the 300 lows," Jordan said. "It was nice to have him back."

Javaree Jackson won the shot put with a toss of 53 feet, 9 inches and also was also third in discus throw (127 feet, 10 inches).

Freshman Haisam Rihawi was a pleasant surprise in the discus throw with a toss of 127-11, just nipping Javaree Jackson for second.

Paris Hannah-Howell took second in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 6 feet, 1 inch. He also was fourth in the triple jump with a PR of 41-3.

Freshman Kyleon Parker was fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.01) and senior Nick Hagopian was fourth in the pole vault (11-6).

"It is exciting to have these guys making moves like this in their events," Jordan said. "Even more exciting are the freshmen that are making an impact."

The 4x100-meter relay was third (45.53) with senior Malik Bascom, freshman Henry Tyson, freshman Aaron Johnson-Moorer and junior Michael Green.

The 4x800 relay was made up of four sophomores and finished fifth (8:59.29): Logan Steinike, Joshua Cash, Christopher Jackson and Jeramiah Cash.

The 4x200 relay was sixth (1:38.51) with Johnson-Moorer, Parker, junior Jake Schnell and freshman Savon Norrington.

Ean Haller was seventh in the 110 hurdles (17.99), and freshman Austin Ertl was seventh in the shot put (41-11).

Bascom in the 100 (11.68) finished eighth, as did the 4x400 relay team (3:46.55) of sophomore Ngaru Nen, Jeramiah Cash, Joshua Cash and Schnell.

Senior Evan Gerndt competed in the wheelchair 800 (4:06.23), 1,600 (8:18.85) and shot put (17-61/2).
