Two teens from an alternative school attempted to rob a Wauwatosa homeowner Monday afternoon, police said Tuesday.

According to police, two males ages 18 and 13 approached a man in the 8500 block of W. Hawthorne Ave., presented what appeared to be a gun, and demanded that he hand them his money and car keys. The man refused, and the two fled.

The 13-year-old was arrested in the area, and the 18-year-old was arrested nearby with a stolen bike. Both immediately confessed to the police.

The 18-year-old was also charged with armed burglary for entering a garage to steal the bike.

Both the 18- and 13-year-old came from St. Charles Youth and Family Services, an alternative day-round school.

St. Charles officials did not respond to a message left on Tuesday.
