Wauwatosa West's baseball team went 1-3 this past week with its three losses coming to two of the top teams in the area.

The Trojans were swept by Greendale in their final Woodland West division games of the season, sending them to a last-place finish (3-7) and into the losers' bracket for the Woodland Conference tournament.

After bouncing back with a win over Greenfield, Wauwatosa West was shut out by Whitefish Bay to fall to 8-16 overall.

Greendale

With a chance to spoil Greendale's shot at an outright Woodland West division title, Wauwatosa West was swept by the Panthers.

Greendale tossed a combined no-hitter in an 8-0 victory over Wauwatosa West on June 27.

Michael Jankowiak threw 62/3 innings of no-hit ball but walked six batters. Alex Tomaszweski recorded the final out for the Panthers.

Already leading 3-0, Greendale scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to blow the game open.

Logan Scharf went five innings for Tosa West, which committed five errors. Ryan Greener walked two in his inning of relief.

The following day at Breitlow Field, Greendale scored twice in the second and six times in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Wauwatosa West scored three of its four runs in the fifth.

J.J. Morgan had three of Wauwatosa West's six hits, connecting on a pair of doubles and driving in two runs.

Nick Price was hit with the loss after walking three and striking out four in three innings. Tyler Schackmuth threw three innings of relief, while Greener pitched an inning.

Greenfield

A five-run second inning helped Wauwatosa West to a 9-3 victory over Greenfield on June 30.

Ernie LaSpisa got the Trojans on the board with an RBI single, while Wauwatosa West added a run on an error. Jacob Greenberg then doubled in a pair and scored himself on a double steal.

After Greenfield cut it to 5-2 with a run in the fourth, the Trojans answered back with a solo home run from Greenberg and an RBI single by Jake Hronek.

Wauwatosa West added to its lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Morgan and an RBI double by Will Jushka.

Jushka surrendered just two runs over six innings, allowing seven hits with four walks and one strikeout. Scharf pitched the seventh to close out the victory.

Morgan, Jushka and Greenberg each had two hits for the Trojans.

Whitefish Bay

Wauwatosa West was shutout, 4-0, in a nonconference game at Whitefish Bay on July 2.

The Blue Dukes scored three in the third to jump out to a 3-0 lead and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Four runs were plenty for Jake Rybakowicz, who held the Trojans to three hits and struck out eight in a complete game.

Despite a complete-game effort, Noah Katula took the loss for Wauwatosa West. He allowed five hits and walked four over six innings.

The Trojans will close the regular season by hosting a wood bat tournament at Breitlow Field on July 9. Wauwatosa West will face Marquette at 9 a.m., Marquette will play Homestead at 12 p.m. and the Trojans will take on Homestead at 3 p.m.
