Rudy Berg and his crew of 60 volunteers Saturday will plant 1,500 trees -- hickory, oak and sugar maple -- at a nature preserve in the Town of West Bend.

Berg, a member of Boy Scout Troop 125 in Wauwatosa, is coordinating the work to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

The trees will be planted on property purchased by the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation as part of the land trust's 10th annual adopt-a-tree program.

The public can sponsor, or adopt, trees at a cost of $10 for one, $20 for twins, $30 for triplets, $40 for quadruplets and $50 for a family of five, said Holly Bauer, a spokeswoman for the foundation.

Work begins at 9 a.m.

From Slinger, drive north on state Highway 144, turn right on County Highway NN. Follow NN past Sleeping Dragon Road then turn west, or left, on Timmers Bay Road. Turn right, or north, on Uncle Dick's Road.

From state Highway 33 at West Bend, drive south on county Highway Z then turn right, or south, on Highway NN. Cross Cedar Creek and turn west, or right, on Timmers Bay Road, then right, or north, on Uncle Dick's Road.

The property is east of Big Cedar Lake. Look for an event banner on the east side of the road.
