Tosa firefighters assist with Eagle's tornado cleanup

As part of a Milwaukee County task force, the Wauwatosa Fire Department sent firefighters to Eagle to help with cleanup efforts related to last night's tornado.

The task force dispatched five engines, four ambulances and five chief officers at 5 a.m. to provide the command role, said Wauwatosa Deputy Chief James Case, who heads up the city's paramedic program. Meanwhile, local units got a chance to rest after a long night on duty and check on their own families and homes.

Case managed the damage assessment process, while Deputy Chief William Rice made sure adequate staffing and vehicle resources were available.

A Wauwatosa engine crew went door to door assessing damage and responding to residents' needs.

The task force was released this afternoon.
