Hart Park garage windows smashed

Aug. 3, 2010

Eight Hart Park maintenance garage windows were broken last week.

The windows were broken after the night custodian left and before the park maintenance worker arrived July 27, Park Superintendent Ken Walbrant said.

That means people are coming in after the park closes at 10:30 p.m. If juveniles are responsible for the vandalism then they are also violating curfew, according to Wauwatosa police.

Repairing or replacing the windows will cost about $300, which will require dipping into the park maintenance reserve fund. Those dollars could go toward myriad other projects, Walbrant said.

Although park and its facilities see several incidents of vandalism per year, but the number or types of incidents have not been escalating as the park gets developed, he said.
