Grandparents parenting class starts today in Milwaukee

A free, five-week educational series for grandparents and other relatives who are parenting again is being offered by five collaborating agencies in Milwaukee.

This educational series, "Grandparents and Other Relatives as Parents," will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evenings from April 28 through May 26 at The Parenting Network, 7516 W. Burleigh Street, Milwaukee.

A light meal and child care will be provided at no cost.

Topics in the program include legal and financial information, transitional parenting, behavior and discipline and healthy living. Gift card drawings will be held at each session.

Wauwatosa library offers fairy tale story night

The Wauwatosa Public Library will present a fairy tale family story night from 6:30 to 7 p.m. May 4 and 5 at the library, 7635 W. North Ave.

The story night is intended for families with children 4 years old and older and will feature fairy tales, movement activities and puppet shows.

Registration is required and can be done in person at the library or by calling (414) 471-8486.

Panel discussion addresses emergencies for homeowners

The Milwaukee chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry will sponsor a free panel discussion, "How to React to an Emergency Situation: What Needs to be Handled ASAP and What Can Potentially Wait," from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 4 at the Milwaukee NARI office, 11815 W. Dearbourn Ave.

The discussion will include a question-and-answer session and will address various options when it comes to emergencies that affect homes - fire, flooding, tornadoes, burst pipes and more - and how homeowners should proceed.

Light refreshments will be served.

All attendees also will receive two tickets for the 12th annual Milwaukee NARI Spring Home Improvement Showcase, which runs from May 14-15.
