Joseph Gorzek of Wauwatosa received the Chancellor's Leadership Award from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in April. The award honors students who have demonstrated meaningful university and community service and shown a commitment to personal growth throughout their academic careers.

Colin Conway of Wauwatosa earned his second-year letter for participation in men's swimming at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Alexandra Radowicz of Wauwatosa, a freshman at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has been named a member of the women's crew team for the spring 2012 season. Radowicz is a graduate of Pius XI High School.

Catherine Jensen of Wauwatosa presented her research in "Stories From Study Abroad: Journeys in Reflection" at the 36th annual Beloit College Student Symposium in April. Symposium Day is an academic forum at which students publicly present their research to the college community. Jensen's presentation focused on her semester in Ireland as an English major.

Jennifer Noldin of Wauwatosa made the fall semester dean's list at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

SCHOOLSCENE

Bethel Assefa of Milwaukee, a student at Wauwatosa East High School, earned a $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship as a result of high test scores on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Members of the Future Business Leaders of America at Wauwatosa East and West high schools recently competed in the state leadership conference, with the following results: Sophomores Nolan Kresnak, Mitchell Merz and Oliver Niles took fifth place in the state and received a plaque for their digital video production entry, a video about the dangers of texting while driving; seniors Zach Adams and Colin Trautschold took sixth place in the management information systems event; and, taking 14th place as individuals were senior Lorenza Zebell, in business communication, and sophomore Valerie Armstrong, in word processing II.
