Daniel O'Brien of Wauwatosa achieved academic distinction during the spring term at Beloit College.

Michael Rooney of Wauwatosa received the Chancellor's Award for the spring 2009 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for having a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.

Molly Hagen of Wauwatosa was named to the spring 2009 honor roll at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Julia Quast of Wauwatosa was named to the spring 2009 dean's list at Trinity Christian College.

Andrew Jambura of Wauwatosa was named to the spring 2009 dean's list at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. He is the son of Dan and Mari Jambura.

Katherine Derus of Wauwatosa graduated from Winona State University with a bachelor's degree in mass communication this spring.

Matthew Morrow of Wauwatosa received the Dean's Award for the 2009 academic year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Christopher Colla of Wauwatosa recently completed the Marquette University international study summer program, European Union Business, at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

SCHOOLSCENE

Emily Crowe received the Alumni Association Award from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Crowe will be a freshman majoring in civil engineering at UW-Platteville this fall. She graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in 2009 and is the daughter of Bill and Chris Crowe of Wauwatosa.

Madeline McLennon of Wauwatosa, a senior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, is a National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist and was named a Brady Academic All-Star. She also placed third (magna cum laude) on the National Latin Exam and placed first in handicraft at the 2009 WJCL Latin Convention.

D'Laney Gielow and Courtney Nelson, both of Wauwatosa and seniors at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, were recently commended in the 2008-2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Emily Scher of Wauwatosa, a senior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, placed sixth in the state for her score on the American Association of Teachers of German Test. Emily also placed 11th in the state for her score on the 2008-2009 National French Exam.

Elyse O'Callaghan of Wauwatosa, a senior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, placed 27th in the state for her score on the American Association of Teachers of German Test.

Claire Huber of Wauwatosa, a junior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, won first place in drawing at the Youth Art Month Southeast Regional Show. Claire's artwork was also featured in the Wisconsin Handweavers State Art Exhibit.

Greta Weber of Wauwatosa, a sophomore at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, had her photography featured in the Youth Art Month Southeast Regional Show.

Grace Druml of Wauwatosa, a freshman at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, won first place in discovering art at the Youth Art Month Southeast Regional Show and advanced to the state level.

Molly Lynn of Wauwatosa, a sophomore at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, has art featured in the Wisconsin State Fair Young People's Art Exhibit.

Martha Novotny of Wauwatosa and a junior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School has jewelry featured in the Wisconsin State Fair Young People's Art Exhibit.

Rebecca Ruesch of Wauwatosa, a junior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School has art featured in the Wisconsin Handweavers State Art Exhibit. Rebecca also placed third (Magna Cum Laude) on the 2008-2009 National Latin Exam.

Maureen Gorman of Wauwatosa, a junior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School placed sixth in the state on the 2008-2009 National French Test.

Nicolette Bardele of Wauwatosa placed second (Silver Maxima Cum Laude) and Emily Harrington placed 4th (Cum Laude) on the 2008-2009 National Latin Exam. Both girls are freshmen at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.

Holly Patzwald of Wauwatosa, a sophomore at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, placed fourth (Cum Laude) on the 2008-2009 National Latin Exam.

Theresa Hofschulte of Wauwatosa, a junior at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, has been awarded the Edna Jensen Fine Arts Scholarship, a scholarship given to a student who displays talent and shows promise in an area of the fine arts.

Molly Guendert, a 2009 graduate of Wauwatosa East High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Wauwatosa Masonic Lodge 267.

Jonathan Spence, a student at Wauwatosa West High School, was a finalist in Poetry at the 2009 National Forensic League National Tournament. He placed in the top six in the nation in poetry.

Anna Beth Schmidt of Wauwatosa was awarded the Dr. Merton V. Campbell Endowment Fund and Margaret S. Chew Scholarship from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
