Nicole Hunker of Wauwatosa earned her master's degree in pediatric nurse practitioner studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in December.

Lane Schlickman of Wauwatosa earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and criminology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in December.

The following students from Wauwatosa made the fall semester dean's and president's lists at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design: Rebecca Ahlf, Joshua Ballew, Kaitlyn Dodge, Peter Jarosz, Andrew Langer, Courtney Morgan, Lucas Ruminski, Emily DeBord, Brittany (Durk) Diamond, Yasaman Hadipour and Stephen Strupp.

Ted Sholl of Wauwatosa made the fall semester dean's list at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.

Elizabeth Baker of Wauwatosa made the fall semester dean's list at the University of Findlay in Ohio. She also earned the John R. and Marion E. Van Nice Instrumental Music Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.

Jordan Yentz of Wauwatosa, a senior at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, will be performing one of the lead roles in "Candide" on April 13. She will be performing as Cunegonde in the opera.

The following students at Marquette University in Milwaukee from Wauwatosa participated in a weeklong service trip over spring break as a part of the Marquette Action Program: Michael Thelen, a junior, traveled to Milboro, Va., and volunteered at Douthath State Park; Sarah Amherdt, a freshman, traveled to Oglada, S.D., and volunteered at the Pine Ridge; and Colin Ehlenbach, a senior, and Anna Layden, a junior, traveled to Joplin, Mo., and volunteered with the tornado relief efforts.

SCHOOLSCENE

Katherine Adams, a Wauwatosa West High School student, earned the $1,000 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholarship for excellence in academics and high motivation to achieve, activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

Nancy Terrian of Pewaukee, a teacher at Eisenhower Elementary School in Wauwatosa, and Sachin Pandya of Wauwatosa, a teacher at Lake Bluff Elementary School in Shorewood, have each been named a 2012 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellow. Fellowship recipients are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each fellow's school will receive a $1,000 grant.

SERVICENEWS

Air Force Airman Zachary R. Martin graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Martin is the son of Kevin Martin of Kenosha and Lori Martin-Friedel of Wauwatosa.

YOURNEIGHBORS

Wauwatosa's Mitch Bultman performed as Polixenes and Jordan Horne as the clown/son in the First Stage Young Company production of William Shakespeare's "The Winter Tale" in Milwaukee in early March.

Doug Jaeger from Everlasting Flowers and Gifts in Wauwatosa was named a Certified Florist in March under the Certified Florist program created in 2010 by the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Floral Association to establish quality standards and recognize talent throughout the retail floral industry.
