Stephanie and Edgardo Vargas of Wauwatosa are the parents of Lorenzo Javier Vargas, born April 27, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls. He was 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and 21 inches long.

CAMPUSNEWS

Emily Stoddard of Wauwatosa earned her master's degree in business management from the University of Minnesota in May.

Tommy Doyle of Wauwatosa graduated summa cum laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore in May. He majored in drawing and did an internship at the Baltimore Museum of Art. He will start a job in June as an admissions representative at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Calif.

Midori Higuchi of Wauwatosa has been accepted into the International Student Volunteer summer program, representing Loyola University-Chicago, where she made the spring semester dean's list. This summer, she and other student volunteers from around the world will spend four weeks in Ostional, Costa Rica, conducting research and assisting the Leatherback and Pacific Green Sea Turtle Conservation Project.

Maria Baglien and Elizabeth Chen of Wauwatosa made the spring semester dean's list at DePaul University in Chicago.

Julia Shirey of Wauwatosa made the spring semester dean's list at Dominican University in River Forest, Ill.

SCHOOLSCENE

Two students from Wauwatosa earned college-financed National Merit Scholarship awards, ranging from $500 to $2,000, based on their scores on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test: Divine Savior Holy Angels student Colleen Gresk, Marquette University in Milwaukee; and University School of Milwaukee student Holly Janssen, Tufts University in Massachusetts.
