Students worry about showmanship during after-school fight

Nov. 23, 2010

Two boys arrested for disorderly conduct at Wauwatosa East High School last week said they had to start their fight over three times because the action wasn't "good enough" for the crowd that had gathered.

According to the Wauwatosa police report:

More than 40 students had gathered in a circle at the soccer field at Menomonee River Parkway and Harmonee Avenue at 3:31 p.m. Nov. 18. In the middle, a 16-year-old Wauwatosa boy and 17-year-old Milwaukee boy were throwing punches.

They had gotten into an argument during the lunch hour and decided to fight it out after school. The crowd was cheering on the action, but the boys stopped hitting each other when one's eyes started rolling back in his head.

Most of the crowd made a run for the woods or through nearby yards when they saw the police car pull up.
