A company that provides water, wastewater and energy infrastructure to communities will be moving its corporate office to Wauwatosa.
Corix Utilities wants to occupy about a quarter of the 49,000-square-foot building on Plank Court. The space would be used for administrative functions, a small call center and warehouse.
"We wanted to get out of downtown (Milwaukee)," Corix Vice President Kevin Meagher said. "We don't have a lot of customer traffic coming to our facility, we have employees coming to work."
He expects 40 workers to occupy the building from the start and another 20 to be hired by year end.
The building was zoned for an industrial use, but most of the properties in the area fall more into the category of office use, said Neal Driscoll, vice president of Liberty Property Trust.
The Plan Commission on Monday unanimously supported the use. The Common Council will vote on the proposed property use Tuesday.
