Tosans invited to learn more about city's efforts to end sewer backups

Aug. 16, 2011

Wauwatosa residents may have breathed a sigh of relief that June and July passed without a major storm - but that doesn't mean a major downpour won't happen again.

The city is working on a plan to prevent basement flooding. A public meeting will be held to educate residents about the problems, potential solutions and cost of fixing the sewer system. Residents also will be able to provide feedback about what they consider the best options.

Results will help city staff members and elected officials formulate policies and determine how much to spend on sewer work.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Wauwatosa Public Library, 7635 W. North Ave. Drop in to meet with representatives from Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, sewer consultants hired by the city and a contractor who specializes in high-tech sewer repair and inspection, as well as city staff.
