Dr. John R. Meurer has been named the director of the Institute for Health and Society at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Meurer, a Medical College faculty member since 1994, is the chief of general pediatrics, a professor of pediatrics and the medical director of the Medical College of Wisconsin's Downtown Health Center, a clinic that provides care to underserved populations in Milwaukee. He has served as the coalition director and principal investigator of Fight Asthma Milwaukee Allies, Children's Hospital and Health System, for more than a decade, and has been an adviser for numerous statewide health initiatives.

T. Michael Bolger, president emeritus of the Medical College of Wisconsin, and James M. Holcomb, national director of M&I Not-for-Profit Services, have been named to lead the new Neuroscience Center Advisory Board, which will be made up of 40 community and business leaders. The board will support the research, diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, and support basic and clinical research that will enhance understanding of brain function and improve the ability to treat neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders, and brain and spinal cord injury.
