BURGLARY

1A mountain bike valued at $200 was taken from an unlocked garage in the 500 block of North 68th Street between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Feb. 10.

2A TV, 3-D glasses, a laptop computer and a charger, valued at $3,300, were taken from an unlocked home in the 9900 block of North Avenue prior to 9:20 a.m. Feb. 11.

THEFT

3An employee at Mo's Irish Pub, 10842 W. Blue Mound Road, created fraudulent gift cards and used them to pay customers' bills totaling $3,100 and pocket the customers' money between January 2011 and Feb. 9. He said he learned the scam from a former bartender who had been fired a few weeks earlier after $600 had gone missing from her station. The man was fired from the restaurant, but an investigation showed he had created additional gift cards for $6,445 that he hadn't yet used. Restaurant management had received letters from the IRS saying the man had past due taxes on tips and wages.

A Wauwatosa woman's Social Security number was being fraudulently used by a man in Montana, she learned Feb. 2 after she took a new job and a background check was performed.

4A 14-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for theft after he took another student's MP3 player from a lunch table at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., between noon and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2. The owner saw him using it later in the week and told school administrators. The boy was on probation with a history of stealing so the case was sent to Children's Court.

5A Penske rental truck valued at $30,000 that had been taken from South Bend, Ind., was left at Mayfair Rent-a-Car, 1750 N. Mayfair Road, on Feb. 6 before staff arrived. The truck was not to leave Indiana and was due back Jan. 30.

A Wauwatosa resident's identity was used to open and overdraw an account by $1,370 with Bank of America prior to 4:07 p.m. Feb. 6. He had been victim of a fraud that involved the same bank - although he never had an account with the company - in 2009. He was alerted when an acquisition company sent a bill reporting it had purchased his overdrawn account and was trying to collect the money.

6A self-contained breathing mask and related equipment, valued at $2,000, were taken from a work vehicle at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 10499 Innovation Drive, between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and 9 a.m. Feb. 7. Windows were broken on three other vehicles in the lot but no items were taken.

7A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for retail theft for conducting three fraudulent returns of merchandise totaling $156 for friends while working as a cashier at Boston Store at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 7:34 p.m. Feb. 7.

8A suitcase filled with clothing and jewelry, valued at $395, was taken from a vehicle at Mayfair prior to 2:28 p.m. Feb. 8. A window had been broken.

9A man tried to take a laptop computer valued at $530 from Best Buy, 2421 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:16 p.m. Feb. 8. He removed a security device, hid the computer under his jacket and headed for the door. When he noticed employees looking, he dropped the computer and left.

10An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for retail theft after she put several pieces of jewelry in her coat pocket at Icing in Mayfair at 7:17 p.m. Feb. 8. She was also found in possession of a skirt taken from the store Forever 21. The total value of the items taken was $118. She was banned from the mall for five years.

11Copper downspouts valued at $300 were taken from a vacant home in the 6300 block of West Wisconsin Avenue between 3 p.m. Feb. 9 and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

12A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he put clothing valued at $431 under his own clothing at Macy's at Mayfair at 3:28 p.m. Feb. 9. He could be heard ripping security sensors in the fitting room and a wire stripper was found in his coat. He has a history of 17 arrests for crimes including retail theft and robbery, so the case was sent to the district attorney. He also had a warrant for auto theft.

13A purse, backpack, e-reader, MP3 player and prescription pills, valued at $825, were taken from a vehicle at Qdoba, 12345 W. Capitol Drive, at 8:52 p.m. Feb. 9. A window had been broken.

14A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of stolen property and driving after his license had been suspended after his vehicle was seen without taillights at 62nd Street and Garfield Avenue 11:17 p.m. Feb. 9. The temporary license plate taped to the vehicle window was stolen from Milwaukee. The passenger, a 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 0.93 grams of marijuana.

15A GPS unit valued at $100 was taken from a vehicle in the 2400 block of North 65th Street between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 10 and 8 a.m. Feb. 11.

16A wallet was taken at Mayfair and a debit card was used to make three fraudulent purchases of gift cards and shoes totaling $683 at Macy's between 2 and 4:40 p.m. Feb. 12.

17A laptop computer, backpack filled with textbooks and duffel bag filled with clothing, valued at $2,030, were taken from a vehicle at Walgreens, 6600 W. State St., at 6:37 p.m. Feb. 12. A window had been broken. A maroon 1998 to 2000 model Ford Econoline van had pulled up next to the vehicle for less than a minute and then pulled away.

Police responded to eight thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

DRUG POSSESSION

18A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for marijuana possession after the canine officer sniffed drugs coming from his locker at Wauwatosa West at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 10. He had 0.74 grams of the drug in his backpack. The drug dog checked 270 lockers.

19A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for marijuana possession after he failed to heed three signs and a barricade indicating a turn-only lane at Blue Mound Road and 70th Street at 7:54 p.m. Feb. 10. He had 0.57 grams of the drug in the vehicle.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

20A 35-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving and having open intoxicants in her vehicle at Mayfair Road and Wisconsin Avenue at 2:18 a.m. Feb. 7. She failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath test. There were two open bottles of beer in the vehicle. Police were tipped by another driver reporting that she was driving recklessly near 88th Street and North Avenue.

21A 24-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving and driving after his license had been suspended after he was seen driving without headlights on at Mayfair Road and Garfield Avenue at 1:17 a.m. Feb. 11. His blood alcohol content was 0.17. He had suspended license plates for failing to pay parking tickets.

VANDALISM

22A window and its frame were damaged on a vehicle at Extended Stay America, 11121 W. North Ave., between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and 2:20 p.m. Feb. 7.

23Scratches were made along the side of a vehicle at Mayfair between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 11.

OTHER

24Victoria's Secret at Mayfair received at least eight obscene telephone calls from an unknown male between Jan. 24 and Feb. 7. The calls have been traced to a number in Cicero, Ill., but police contact to that number has not generated a response.

25A 16-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for disorderly conduct after her pepper spray discharged in the girls locker room at Wauwatosa West at 9:50 a.m. Feb. 6. Several students were coughing and complained of sore throats and irritated eyes. The girl said her mother had given it to her and she carries it in her backpack for protection because she lives in a bad neighborhood and rides a county bus to school. She denied spraying it, saying she noticed it was used when she returned from the restroom. It is illegal for anyone younger than 18 to possess pepper spray.

26A 13-year-old Wauwatosa girl was arrested for underage drinking after she brought a water bottle filled with alcohol to Whitman Middle School, 11100 W. Center St., at 8:55 a.m. Feb. 7. Her BAC was 0.067. She said she was drinking to deal with stress at home.

27A 15-year-old Wauwatosa girl was cited for habitual truancy at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 7, after she missed eight of the first 11 days of the spring semester at Wauwatosa East. She told an officer she didn't want to attend, but he escorted her from her home to school. Her mother slammed the door on the officer when he tried to talk to her.

28Four people were arrested for underage drinking after the vehicle they were riding in was pulled over for speeding on Blue Mound Road near Glenview Avenue at 12:57 a.m. Feb. 8. The 17-year-old Wauwatosa boy who was driving had a BAC of 0.035. Three occupants - 17-year-old boys from Milwaukee and Wauwatosa and an 18-year-old Wauwatosa man - had BACs ranging from 0.039 to 0.124.

29A man wearing a full-length black dress was discovered lying between a woman's desk and the wall of her locked private office in the Milwaukee County Research Park building at 10437 Innovation Drive at 7:12 a.m. Feb. 8. When the startled woman ran to find help, the man left the premises.

30A woman used a counterfeit $100 bill to buy clothing valued at $73 at Aerie in Mayfair at 3:24 p.m. Feb. 8.

31A 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for disorderly conduct at 7:50 p.m. Feb. 9 after he showed up for intramural basketball games at Wauwatosa West even though he was on academic probation and was repeatedly told throughout the school day that he was not allowed to attend. He refused to leave and instead of talking to school staff he got on his cellphone and made threats aimed at staff.

32Two Milwaukee men, ages 20 and 23, were arrested for disorderly conduct after they took a woman's cellphone at Mayfair and refused to stop when police tried to question them at 8:42 p.m. Feb. 10.

33A liter soda bottle filled with liquid exploded in the front yard of a home in the 2100 block of North 90th Street at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 12. Fragments were strewn across the yard up to 25 feet away. The homeowner suspected juveniles who had been causing minor vandalism since he yelled at them from knocking down traffic signs.

34A 14-year-old boy punched and pushed staff at Carmelite Home for Boys, 1214 Kavanaugh Place, at 9:55 a.m. Feb. 13.

Police responded to two domestic violence incidents in the past week.
